The 2015 edition of SSIMA took place from June 29 to July 4 in Sinaia, Romania. It brought together under one roof the best medical innovations and technologies designed to improve the healthcare system. This event was jointly organized by the Faculty of Medical Engineering and the Image Processing and Analysis Laboratory (LAPI) of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, the Technion—Israel Institute of Technology, and the Faculty of Informatics at Titu Maiorescu University.
SSIMA 2015 – The MedTech and Healthcare Forum was supported by FotoNation, a leader in computational imaging and computer vision technologies, as the Industry Expert, and Siemens, a global leader in electrification, automation, and digitalization, as the Platinum Sponsor.
The event featured prominent keynote speakers united by their passion for medical technology, including Prof. Alfred M. Bruckstein from the Technion, Prof. Michael Miller and Prof. Laurent Younes from Johns Hopkins University, and Dr. Dorin Comaniciu from Siemens Corporate Technology, among others. Additionally, the forum hosted special guest George T. Haber from Cresta Fund, a notable serial entrepreneur and marketing strategist.
The 2015 MedTech and Healthcare Forum attracted 40 participants, including undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students, as well as young professionals from four different countries: the UK, Israel, Austria, and Colombia. This diverse group helped create a dynamic and enriching environment that fostered international collaboration and networking.
The presentations covered a wide range of topics in medical imaging and technology, such as image deconvolution, brain-inspired computer vision, and machine intelligence in precision medicine. The event successfully brought together experts from academia, industry, and healthcare to foster discussions on the integration of advanced technologies into medical practice.
SSIMA 2015 was organized with the support of leading academic and scientific figures, ensuring a rich and informative program for all attendees.
